Two pies, not one
Picture two pies. The first is the AI answer a customer reads when they ask an assistant who to call nearby. The second is a classic page of Google results. Social is a large slice of the first pie and a thin slice of the second, and treating them as one number is how owners end up either overspending on social or dismissing it outright. Your website, your reviews, and your Google profile are the engine in both. Social is the amplifier and the entry ticket: one piece of the picture, never the whole recipe.
Why AI tools check social before they name you
When one of your customers asks a tool like ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, or Gemini for the best option nearby, it does not start with your website. It checks what is being said about you across the web first, in reviews, forums, and social posts, then decides whether you are credible enough to name in the answer at all. Being present and well regarded where those tools look is a strong signal for whether you turn up. In the studies that measured this, social and community content made up roughly half of what Google AI Overviews cited and about two thirds of what Perplexity cited (Profound, June 5 2025), and LinkedIn came in as the second most-cited source across the major AI tools (Semrush, November 10 2025). A real presence there puts you inside the pool those answers are built from. It does not guarantee you get named, and any tool that promises it will is selling you something.
On regular Google, we will be straight with you
Posting on social does not flip a switch in your Google rankings. Google's own team has said for years, on the record, that likes, shares, and follower counts are not a direct ranking factor. What social actually does is quieter and real: it is the distribution that gets your good work seen, talked about, and linked to, and it is those links and that word of mouth, not the shares themselves, that move rankings over time. Ignoring social because it is not a ranking factor is a bit like ignoring email because email is not a ranking factor. The point was never the signal. It is what the signal enables.
Broad presence beats betting on one channel
Which platform the AI tools favor is a moving target, so a broad, credible presence is safer than pouring everything into one channel. In the same research, Reddit's citation share on ChatGPT fell from close to 60 percent in early August to around 10 percent by mid-September 2025 (Semrush, November 10 2025). Chase this month's favorite and you are rebuilding every quarter. Show up consistently across the places people talk about your category and you stay in the pool no matter which platform an answer leans on this week.
Where Social Tease fits for a busy owner
Knowing social matters and finding time to do it are different problems. Social Tease is the PulseLogic feature that closes that gap. It starts from a real opportunity in your account, hands you a board of about ten distinct angles anchored on a genuine detail about your business, and for the one you pick it produces a brief: a caption refined against your brand voice, hashtags, an image idea, and a short shot list of what to film. The shot list is the part that unsticks most owners, because what stops a post is rarely the caption, it is not knowing what to shoot. Social Tease plans the shoot and hands you the kit. You film it and hit post, which keeps the presence unmistakably yours.
